And yes, indeed, it truly is! Movie fanatics and avid film enthusiasts out there, have your feelings ready for another festival that will surely make you go head over heels this April. It’s the annual Gold Coast Film Festival! Since its establishment in 2002, the GCFF has been since then been celebrating and promoting all aspects of film and filmmaking from one of Australia’s well-known filmmaker’s favourite location and holiday destination- the Gold Coast.
Some of the major international films for 2017 that chose the Gold Coast’s exquisite beauty as their location are Unbroken, Pirates of the Caribbean and Thor: Ragnarok.
For its 2017 version, the GCFF promises viewers a wide variety of films from Australian indie gems to European drama and intriguing American arthouse. During the entire span of the event from Wednesday 19th April – Sunday 30th April 2017, expect an engaging festival as there will be Q&A’s with the filmmakers, film industry panels and school screenings and talks.
Both the opening on the 19th April and the closing on the 30th April will happen at The Arts Centre Gold Coast. The YScreen School screening of Zach’s Ceremony + Film Critic session, YScreen School screening of My Live As A Courgette + Film Critic session, and 3rd Annual Women In Film Lunch at QT Gold Coast with guest speaker Sue Maslin will happen on Friday 21st April. An Australian Premiere of The Best of the London Short Film Festival will also take place at Surfers Paradise Beach on Monday 24th April. The full 2017 Program of films and events will be announced in early March.
